Industrial Design

Who are industrial designers?

Industrial designers merge mechanical engineering and art. They try to satisfy function and form, and develop aesthetic and practical demands of the user or market.

Industrial designers (IDs) do not generally develop functional elements of a design, such as the electronics, mechanisms or tooling. Usually, they partner with engineers and market stakeholders.

At Objective Design, we believe there are many approaches and solutions to design problems. We work with a wide range of ID professionals, which allows you to choose a price level and style best suited to your project.

The best IDs around

We have significant experience in commissioning the best IDs from NZ and internationally. We keep them in the development loop to ensure minimum divergence from the initial concept, and maintain purity of design. This drives practical, resolvable concepts that quickly reach manufacturing stage.

According to the Industrial Design Society of America, industrial design is the professional service of creating and developing concepts and specifications that optimise the function, value and appearance of products and systems for the mutual benefit of both user and manufacturer."

According to the Chartered Society of Designers, design is a force that delivers innovation that in turn has exploited creativity.
